✘ Thoughts of A Stranger

The thoughts of a 30-something year old

True Colors

I have been in love with the Zedd song “True Colors” for over a year now. It’s a strong pop anthem that doesn’t sacrifice originality or substitute for poor vocals. I think Kesha was a great choice to voice this song and again, I absolutely love it!

For the past few days, I’ve been attempting to cover the original version of this song, trying to play with the compressors & effects that Zedd uses, and I think I’ve done a decent job (especially as someone who doesn’t know a crazy amount of vocal production.) I really hope to carry more elements of vocal production into my work, instead of always feeling like I have to rely on my producer or feel like I always have to release acoustic music. While I love singing acoustic music, I feel pretty trapped in the style (especially after doing it for around 10 years now.)

Hope you like this cover and would love to hear your thoughts.
