I can’t express how excited I am to have my workspace back. For the past 4-months, I haven’t been able to do anything to the office since we were getting our windows changed (since they were from the 70s) and because I was working way too much. Well, as soon as I got out of school, I told my partner we had to fix up my office and the kitchen first (which I will reveal another day), but here’s what we ended up doing.
When we moved in, the office was a really ugly cream colour. Not only that, it looked like there was black mould all over the baseboards and blood splatters all across the walls. I still don’t know what all the dirt on the walls were from… but I’m glad it’s gone.
I wanted to try something new with the office, specifically with patterns and since we want to keep our “redesign budget” fairly tight until we’ve repaired everything in the condo, we settled on three colours that would appear elsewhere in the house. So, we painted 2/3 of the office purple and the other third blue with some yellow in the centre.
And this is what it looks like! I think we did a pretty awesome job! Especially for first-time painters. I’m so pleased with how bright the office has become, and while it looks like a nursery, it’s so much more comfortable to be in.
My only thing is, I have to make sure that I keep my office cleaner than I did in the past two places we lived in. I have a bad habit of leaving paperwork everywhere and not filing things immediately, but it’s hard to not want to keep this place clean since it’s so gorgeous! It has really gotten me excited for the other rooms in our place, even though I’m still pretty darn nervous to get started.
I think the cutest thing we did was paint the outlets the opposite colour of the wall, and again… apologies for the edits on the photos. I’m still trying to figure out how to photoshop colourings properly to make sure you can tell details. (Our place doesn’t get a whole lot of light, and even with lamps set up… it’s still hard to get the photos that I want.) Either way, above you can see a blue outlet on a purple wall and below the purple outlet on the blue wall.
I still need to go back in with a small artist brush to make sure that the wall has no splotches of white, but that’s such minuscule work that I’m completely fine with being in my cozy office already.
Well, here’s to starting 2019 in my brand new, nursery-looking office! Now all I need to do is soundproof it better so I can finish recording my next album! If you haven’t checked it out already… I have a new song on Spotify! Check it out here.

I’ve definitely been enjoying it these past few months. Really happy we took some time to focus on it.
