This year a lot has changed in my life. I’ve strapped myself in and have been getting a lot more serious about my career.
Last year, I took a big step by applying for some teaching jobs I didn’t think I’d get, but lo and behold I got a position in the public sector.
Today officially marks a year since I started teaching in the public sector, while previously I had been tutoring or teaching in private facilities and I can say I don’t regret my decision to teach.
I was happy to be teaching one course but flash forward to now, I just received a call that a fourth school would like to bring me on and now I’m officially teaching 3 very different courses, two being huge passions of mine. (The other being an interest, but more of something that landed in my lap, rather than a passion.)
As mentioned in a previous post, I find joy in teaching. I find joy in watching my students learn and grow and I think that that’s mostly because I’m teaching folks who are returning to education, who want to continue to expand their knowledge even though they aren’t required to.
I can’t deny my nerves. It’s always scary to step into a new position, into a new class, into a new school and with new students, but I’m so confident about this year and can’t wait to see what my students bring to the table.
It’s good to be back into action after taking a summer off to move and really focus on my own personal projects.
All in all, I think things are starting to fall into place and I have a few more projects that I’ll be ready to introduce you to fairly soon. It’s getting fairly late and I need to get up early to come up with lesson plans for the newest courses I’m teaching so for now goodnight.
